Common Q&A regarding Subscription and Pay Per View

What is available on Wushu Scholar?

Wushu Scholar gives you access to special material collected on our frequent research trips to China:

  • Access to previously unseen video footage of Chinese masters
  • New videos released every month
  • Information about rare local styles of traditional Wushu, many unknown outside of China
  • Histories and background information on traditional styles
  • Biographies and personal accounts of famous personalities in the world of Chinese Martial Arts
  • Interviews with present day masters, sharing their memories, opinions and advice with readers

Articles, photos and videos are based on personal meetings and interviews with Chinese masters and review of historical documents, giving you a unique insight into Chinese martial arts as they have been preserved and developed in their country of origin.

Most articles on Wushu Scholar are free and can be accessed by everyone (Please see Terms & Conditions for the rules that govern their use).

Most of the videos on Wushu Scholar are not free and can be accessed either via the Pay Per View facility, or via Subscription.

How does Pay Per View work?

Pay Per View allows you to purchase each resource separately, so you can pick and choose which videos (and occasionally other types of resources) you want to download and pay only for them.

You can use the shopping basket facility to select as many individual resources as you like before paying. Once your payment transaction has been completed, the videos you have purchased will be available for you to download from the My Account page.

Please note, the videos you have purchased will be available to you from the My Account page for as long as you like until you start the download process. Once you have started to download a video from the My Account page, you will have 3 days to complete the download, after which the video will become unavailable again.

This is a necessary safeguard to prevent multiple copies of videos from being downloaded and passed on, in breach of the Terms and Conditions of this website.

How are individual resources priced up?

Each video is priced up according to rarity of style/pattern, who is performing and the quality of the footage. Prices start from 0.79p per clip.

Payments are made through our preferred Pay Per View payment gateway provider PayPal. The payment process via PayPal is fast as well as secure, and most major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Feel free to read more about PayPal on the PayPal Website.

How does subscription work?

Subscription gives you automatic access to all resources released that month and is cheaper than if you tried to purchase every resource separately. When new resources are published on Wushu Scholar, they are automatically made available to subscribers to download from the My Account page.

How much does subscription cost?

Subscription is available for just 10.00 per month.

Payments are made through our preferred subscription payment gateway provider WorldPay. Our subscription process via WorldPay is fast as well as secure, and most major credit and debit cards are accepted.

Feel free to read more about WorldPay on the WorldPay Website.

Is it safe to use my credit card over the Internet?

We work with WorldPay and PayPal to process your credit and debit card payments and protect your card details. All your card details are encrypted (converted into secure code) to the maximum strength supported by your browser. When you enter your card details, you are using WorldPay's or PayPal's secure server. Data storage on WorldPay or PayPal systems, and the communication between WorldPay or PayPal and the worldwide banking networks is regularly audited by the banks themselves. WorldPay and PayPal employ sophisticated firewall technology and other security best practises to ensure only legitimate access is allowed.

What are the benefits of adding my profile?

Adding your own personal profile is a free service offered by Wushu Scholar to help you to create your own martial arts presence on the web. Sharing your martial experiences with others can be a rewarding experience (take the time to read through a few of our members' profiles and you'll know why).

Once added you will gain access to your own personal page which is tailored to your own martial interests.

Please note that the details you enter will be visible to anyone viewing your on-line profile.

How can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your Wushu Scholar subscription at anytime via your WorldPay user account. This can be accessed with your WorldPay username and password at http://www.worldpay.com/shopper/index.php?page=recurring&sub=2. See the WorldPay site for further instructions on how to do this.

Do I need to give notice to cancel my subscription?

Your subscription is billed each month in advance. Subscriptions will be cancelled at the end of the current subscription month. You can request cancellation of your subscription at any time, by visiting your WorldPay account at http://www.worldpay.com/shopper/index.php?page=recurring&sub=2. Once you cancel your subscription, no further payment will be taken from your credit card. You will continue to have access to subscription only resources until your current monthly subscription has expired. So, for example, if you cancel your subscription on the 16th day of the month, you will continue to have access until the end of that month since you have already paid for the entire month.

How do I change my password?

Changing your password is easy, simply log in with your existing password and follow the 'My Account page' link in the log in panel. On the My Account page you will see a link called 'Change my current password', follow the instructions on the page it links to and make sure you remember your new password...

What do I do if I've lost or forgotten my password?

If you have forgotten your password, simply locate the 'Forgotten password?' link in the log in panel found on most pages, alternatively you can request your password here. This assumes that you have entered a valid e-mail address when you subscribed or added your profile.
